Wax Emulsions For Every Industry
Our products are used in a wide variety of industries, and are suitable for applications in most manufacturing industries.
- Paper and Packaging – wax coatings are used for texture, anti-blocking, and water-resistance for everything from wax-coated paper drinking cups to corrugated cardboard boxes used in shipping.
As a surface treatment for paper, wax improves smoothness, printability, and reduces the porosity of the stock. Wax emulsions are used for their release – anti-blocking – properties, so sheets of paper don’t stick together. For corrugated board, wax is used for scuff resistance and to mat down the fibers to reduce scratching. Compatible with most rosin, wax is also used for water-repellant properties on paper and packaging surfaces.
- Textiles – wax emulsions are a commonly used product on fibers and fabric. The emulsion is added as a finishing agent to aid in softening and improve sewability. Wax is also used to:
- Improve tear strength
- Reduce needle burn
- Lubricate presses
- Impart softening and anti-static effect to treat yarn
- Inks, Paints and Coatings – stains, paints and primers rely on a component of wax in their chemistry formulation. The coatings adhere to the surface or another coating. Some exterior paints and stains use wax to repel water and prevent mold or decay, while other paints will use wax to create a matte texture or a non-slip surface.
Water-based wax emulsions are increasingly being used to replace solvents because of their
- Stability
- Anti-scuff properties
- Gloss control
- Anti-blocking
- Waterproofing
- Slip properties
- Better surface appearance
- Durability
- Adhesives & Sealants – Wax emulsions are crucial components in many industrial and household adhesives and sealant materials. From the turtle wax protecting a car's paint job, to the sealer and protector a careful homeowner spreads on stone tiles or hardwood flooring.
- Building materials – wax emulsions are a significant part of many construction materials:
- It works as a water repellant and lubricating agent in the production of OSB and MDF board.
- Wax emulsions are widely used as a carrier for preservatives in the production of treated lumber.
- As protective coatings, our emulsions are preferred in the production of edge seal paint for their superior water repellence and stability.
- Emulsions are beneficial for the control of dust during the milling process, and are also beneficial in lubricating the mill equipment.
- Mold releases – The non-slip surface provided by a wax coating makes a mold release more efficient and effective. In most cases the emulsion dries to form a film for easy removal of casting. Manufactured products that require a release include:
- Fiberglass
- Cultured marble
- Cast polymer
- Concrete products and forms
- Products made of Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC)
